Biography

I grew up in Cheshire, in a small village surrounded by fields, with little else to do besides read, paint, sew, and walk. I’ve always enjoyed nature, the different varieties of flowers and the changing of the seasons; an occurrence which is so visually apparent in the countryside. I find that petals and leaves work their way into my paintings intuitively and often serve as a way to enhance the narrative of my work as a visual representation of my emotions.

I’m currently studying a degree Performance Costume at Edinburgh College of Art. My interest in costume follows on from my constant need to create narratives within my work. As I am often influenced by literature, studying costume allows me the freedom to explore the creation of visual narratives through textiles and clothing. I am still investigating the link between costume and painting in my current work; however, I can see theatrical influences already emerging through the development of unfamiliar compositions, patterns and textures.
